David is an accomplished finance executive with extensive skills and experience in leading large, complex organizations through growth and change, often in the context of CFO advisory roles. He has held senior financial leadership positions for over 20 years, boasting a strong track record in driving business performance, developing and executing finance transformation strategies, and delivering transformational change programs.
David’s most recent permanent role was General Manager Finance with Ventia Services Group, an ASX 200 listed business providing essential infrastructure services to clients across ANZ. In this role, David managed the Group Finance function, ensuring a robust internal control environment while overseeing Financial Reporting, Tax, FP&A, and Accounting functions. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Group Financial Control function when he joined Ventia in 2015 and was a key member of the finance due diligence teams that facilitated several successful acquisitions, culminating in the IPO for Ventia in 2021.
Before this, David served as Group Financial Controller for News Corp Australia. During his tenure with News, he was the architect of the Financial Transformation Strategy, planning and delivering the business case to implement finance shared services across the group. This initiative resulted in a remarkable 40% reduction in finance headcount, generating substantial savings, enhancing internal control, and improving service quality to the business.
David is a Chartered Accountant and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He also holds a Master of Business Administration. Passionate about developing others, David serves as an ANZ Career Mentor for early and mid-career Chartered Accountants.
